The gateway to the parish via the revamped Enclar avenue to be opened before the summer

The work on the gateway to Andorra la Vella from La Margineda is entering its final phase and will be opened in June. The new avenue will offer a wide walkway, a circuit for doing exercise and a children’s area.

The development of the southern part of Enclar avenue is advancing at a steady pace and is entering its final phase. This was checked out during a visit by the Association of Urbanistic Promotion (APU) together with the Comú of Andorra la Vella. The monitoring was supervised by the consol major (mayor), Conxita Marsol. Those responsible for the work estimate that it will be completed within four months.

The project boosts the entrance to the parish via Enclar avenue with an aim to encouraging a greater flow of vehicles on their way to the town through Santa Coloma and the higher part of Meritxell Avenue. With a view to strengthening this access point, taking advantage of the development of the avenue, a new physical gateway to Andorra la Vella will be installed along with a 50 sq. metre LED screen thus enabling the projection of images and videos. It will be in the shape of a 30 metre arch placed on Enclar Avenue in the area of the Margineda roundabout and will be an identifying element for the gateway.

The remodelled Enclar avenue will offer a large walkway with a pavement measuring 9 metres and will include a play area for children and various callisthenic apparatus to enable fitness exercises in the fresh air.

The new gateway to the parish of Andorra la Vella is popular with runners and pedestrians and will complete the connection of the parish as a whole following alongside the river. Once the work is finished, people will be able to run or walk from the Dama de Gel roundabout to La Margineda uniformly. This is to give a continuity to the project of encouraging a sustainable town for its inhabitants: access on foot or by local authority bus offering symbolically priced tickets.

The work on this development has been carried out by the Association of Urbanistic Promotion (APU) that groups together the land owners of the area. The Comú has borne a percentage of the cost of the work estimated at about 700.000 euros which corresponds to the improvements requested in order to make the avenue into a great walkway complete public amenities.
