Andorra to host the finals of the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup in March.

The big sports event will take place between 11 and 17 March on the Avet and Àliga slopes at Soldeu-El Tarter, in the Grandvalira ski area.

The foremost athletes of the world’s Alpine ski elite will be meeting in Andorra in March to participate in the finals of the FIS Alpine Ski World Cup 2019, an event that will be taking place for the first time in our country.

The current series of the World Cup –the 53rd in its history– began at the end of October at Austria’s Sölden resort and it will be winding up in Andorra on 17 March with the holding of the finals, which will only include the 25 best racers in all the various disciplines: Slalom, Giant Slalom, Downhill and Super-G.

Andorra has hosted other important Alpine ski events in recent years, including the Women’s World Cup, likewise at Grandvalira, in 2016.

Now, three years later, the legendary Avet and Àliga slopes in the Soldeu-El Tarter sector will be the scene of the last big event of the season. The champions of both the men’s and women’s categories will be determined in Andorra.

Grandvalira has already begun to prepare for the biggest competition it has ever held. For the Principality of Andorra as a whole, this will be an excellent opportunity to promote our tourist industry through a sporting event of worldwide prestige.
