Dynamic barrier in Prat de la Font

Molines patrimonis is building a dynamic barrier against falling rock blocks in Prat de la Font, one of the largest in the country. The barrier is 300 meters long and 8 meters high and was built in 8 months. The work that Molines Patrimonis has carried out in the Prat de la Font area, in Sant Julià de Lòria, for the construction of a dynamic barrier against falling rock blocks has already been completed.
A dynamic barrier is a passive protection system against rock falls, since they do not prevent them from occurring, but they prevent them from impacting other structures, installations, vehicles or people during their trajectory. They base their operation on the ability to absorb the kinetic energy of the rock block, thanks to the deformation of the mesh and its braking system.

The dynamic barrier built by Molines Patrimonis in Prat de la Font has a total length of almost 300 meters and a height of 8 meters, divided into six units. The units have been arranged in an overlapping manner, so that fauna can circulate between them. This is the largest dynamic barrier in the country, taking into account the height variables and the maximum level of energy it can absorb, 5,000kj.
The works began in October and were completed in June, and the use of a helicopter was necessary. During the execution of the works, the deadlines stipulated by the Department of the Environment had to be scrupulously respected, since during the spring the birds begin to nest, with the danger that this posed for the works that had to be carried out by helicopter. It was undoubtedly an added difficulty, but despite everything, the deadlines for the work were met.
